  Curriculum Vitae

Edward Dowden studied art to 'A' level at school, and then read architecture at the University of
Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Since leaving university he has been a full-time artist, apart from a two year
period during which he also taught art part-time in a school. He began his career while living in
Newcastle, later having a studio near Hexham in Northumberland. In 1980 he moved to Wiltshire,
and in 2003 to North Yorkshire. From 1989 to 1996 he also organised exhibitions of work
by invited professional artists.

He has had work exhibited, in various years, in the
following open exhibitions and competitions:
